Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
Katie is in Winnipeg, MB where we primarily receive fresh bouquets. We can offer local bouquet pickup within Winnipeg when her schedule allows, for an additional fee. Sarah is in Brandon, MB where we offer limited local drop off when her schedule allows.
How far in advance should I book?
As soon as you can! We recommend booking your floral preservation around the same time that you are booking your other vendors.
We are two people with limited time and supplies so we can only accept a limited number of bouquets per week. We want to be able to pour the adequate time, love, and attention into preserving each bouquet so our books are limited. It is ideal to secure your booking well in advance to ensure that we have the space to intake your bouquet.
Do you accept post-event bookings?
We will accept last minute bookings whenever our schedule allows. Saying “no” to preserving sentimental flowers hurts our soul so we will always try our best to accommodate post-event bookings. There may be an additional $50 post event booking charge if changes need to be made to our schedule or additional preservation supplies need to be purchased to accommodate the late booking. We still ask that you fill out our booking form and we will be in touch within 24 hours (probably sooner) on if we can accept the bouquet. If we accept the booking we will require a $100 non-refundable retainer and get you to fill out an order confirmation form. There are a few factors that go into if we can accommodate a last-minute booking:
-Do we have the space for what you are wanting?
We only have a limited number of presses and supplies for preservation. If those are full, there is unfortunately nothing we can do.
-How old is the bouquet?
Typically, we request to receive the flowers between 1 to 3 days following the event to ensure they preserve well. Any older than 3 days the flowers may not survive the preservation process due to rotting, falling apart, or discolouration.
- Are you located close to our drop off locations?
If you can get the flowers to us ASAP, then we are more inclines to accept the booking.
These are the reasons we highly recommend you secure your booking ahead of time. When you reserve your date, it allows us to prepare the space, supplies and reserve the time that your bouquet deserves.
Can I ship my bouquet?
Yes, we can accept bouquets from all around Canada. We will not send you any supplies for shipment and the cost to ship your bouquet to us is fully your responsibility. We will charge an additional shipping fee for the cost of shipping your preserved order back to you. Since we need your bouquet within 1 to 3 days after the event, we will require you to ship it express in the day or two after your wedding. We will send instructions on exactly how to ship your bouquet and offer extra guidance if needed.
What is the expected turnaround time?
The length of time it takes us to complete custom floral preservation can vary greatly depending on methods of preservation, order size, and how many orders we have on the go. Please anticipate a turnaround time of 12 to 36 weeks. If we are working on a custom order for you, please feel free to reach out at any time for an update.
Will you require my whole bouquet?
Yes, the full bouquet is required. If you are getting a large order, we welcome additional florals from your wedding. We will carefully
organize and disassemble the bouquet into the press and/or silica. Once the flowers are preserved, we will select the best florals and greenery for your mock up design. This allows us to have more options in the design process and room for error if any flower brown/wilt.
Will I get any leftover preserved flowers with my finished order?
No, unless specifically requested. We will recycle your flowers into our stock so if there is ever a case where a client’s flowers do not preserve well, we can supplement them with stock flowers through our recycling program. Needing flowers from our stock can happen when the bouquet comes to us not properly hydrated, if the bouquet is a few days old, or if the flowers are starting to rot we will need to supplement them with stock. It is a way of giving a small gift to our future clients.
If you would like your leftover preserved bouquet, please let us know and we can include them with your completed order.
Can you work with already dried flowers?
Yes, we can! If you have an old bouquet hanging in your closet from years ago that you would like us to work with, please reach out! We cannot press the air-dried bouquet as the flowers are too brittle to attempt to flatten. We can turn your already-dried flowers into a shadowbox frame or deep epoxy resin work. We will not accept air-dried bouquets during peak wedding season as fresh flowers take priority.
How will my bouquet change during the preservation process and over time?
We do our absolute best to retain the colour of flowers during the preservation process. Sometimes, despite our best effort the colours can drastically change. Flowers are a product of nature after all and it is totally normal for them to change appearance. You can expect white colours to turn to a cream/beige, and other colours will deepen or fade depending on the colour and type of flower.
Once flowers have dried and begin to age, they start to have a vintage look. This is part of the beauty of process because your piece will continue to change in every chapter of your life. We recommend you display your preservation piece out of direct sunlight and away from damp areas to slow the process of aging.
What is colour correction and how does it work?
Some flowers will drastically change in colour despite our best-efforts during preservation. Colour correction is the process of enhancing the preserved flowers to bring its appearance back to its natural colour and vibrancy. Types of flowers such as tropical variations, white hues, and some greenery are affected the most. The goal of colour correction is to essential dye the flower to a shade similar to what it would have been fresh. It is an added service that costs an additional $25 to $75 depending on how much colour correction is required, we calculate this cost based on hours spent correcting.
